Before Instagram existed, before everyone had a camera roll with 1,000+ photos, before “content creator” was a job title…

I was the girl with a camera in her hand running around in cornfields and train tracks documenting everything…and yes, I even took my own senior pictures.

What started as a lifelong love for capturing little moments eventually turned into something I couldn’t ignore: I really love photographing people and noticing the little things.

A little bit about me, I’m a wife, mom, creative, and most importantly, a follower of Jesus. My faith is a huge part of who I am and how I see the world and I think that naturally spills into the way I photograph people.

There is so much beauty in ordinary life and my goal is to capture not just a picture and how it looks, but how the moment felt. The messy kitchens, the toddler giggles, the wrinkles that come with years of loving someone, the tiny hands you wish you could keep tiny forever…that’s the real stuff.

I don’t believe your life has to look perfect to be worth documenting.

My approach is comfortably candid. I’ll give you enough direction so that you don’t have to wonder what to do with your hands, but I’m not interested in turning your family into a lineup of perfectly posed strangers. I want you to have fun, interact, laugh, and actually enjoy being together.

Because years from now, I don’t think you’ll care if everyone’s hair was perfect.

You’ll want to remember how it felt to be there.

And that’s really what Overla Moon is all about.

Good people. Good memories. The real stuff.
Photos that feel more like memories.

About

When my husband and I got married, our wedding hashtag was #OverlaMoonForYou …a cheesy little play on our last name that we loved way too much. And somehow, years later, Overla Moon still felt like the perfect name for this little corner of my creative world.

But, I also love what the phrase means to me.

To me, being over the moon isn’t about having a perfect life or pretending everything is sunshine and rainbows. It’s about those moments when you look around at your life the beautiful, messy, ordinary parts of it and think, “yeah. I want to remember this.”

That’s what Overla Moon photography is about.

Good people. Good memories. The real stuff.
